Steve Bruce to miss Blackpool match

The football world has come together to offer their condolences

Blackpool FC manager Steve Bruce will be absent from the team’s upcoming match against Barnsley due to a devastating personal loss. Bruce’s four-month-old grandson, Madison, has passed away, and he will take time to grieve with his family.

The football club expressed its condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with Steve and his loved ones during this unbearable time. We respect their privacy as they navigate this sudden and heartbreaking loss.”

Assistant manager Alex Bruce, Steve’s son, will also be absent from Salford City’s match against Crewe Alexandra as he mourns the loss of his nephew. Salford City offered support to Alex, Matt Smith (married to Steve’s daughter Amy), and the entire Bruce family.

Former clubs of Steve Bruce, including Birmingham and Newcastle, extended their sympathies. Birmingham City wrote, “We’re deeply saddened by the news and offer our love and support to Steve and his family.”

Newcastle United added, “Our hearts go out to Steve and his loved ones during this tragic time.” The English Football League (EFL) also conveyed its condolences.

Numerous football clubs, including Bristol City, Norwich City, Leeds, Millwall, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, West Brom, and Crewe Alexandra, joined in expressing their support for Bruce and his family.

Steve Bruce, 63, took the reins at Blackpool in September, succeeding Neil Critchley.
